Where the Pepper Grows
Kampot pepper comes from the coastal region of Kampot in Cambodia, an area renowned among connoisseurs as the home of the world’s best pepper. The combination of ideal climate and mineral-rich soil creates the perfect conditions for cultivating this unique spice. The Kampot region has a rich history and a long tradition of pepper cultivation dating back to the 13th century. Even back then, Kampot pepper was valued by the Khmer kings and used as a precious trade good.
RIAHOU’s Kampot pepper is grown and processed using traditional methods, with only natural techniques used for pest control and fertilization.
Harvesting and Production of Our Varieties
Each type of pepper has its own unique flavor profile, determined by the time of harvest and careful processing.
Green pepper is harvested early and preserved through fermentation in salt, which keeps it fresh and juicy with a pleasantly mild heat.
Black pepper is produced by sun-drying the green peppercorns, giving it an intense, sharp flavor.
Red pepper comes from fully ripe red berries and is known for its fruity sweetness.
White pepper is also made from fully ripe red berries that are peeled after fermentation, resulting in a milder and more delicate taste.
What Makes Our Pepper Special
We visited the coastal region of Kampot, famous for its top-quality pepper. There, we met a dedicated farmer who cultivates Kampot pepper as part of a long family tradition. Our close cooperation allows us to guarantee the high quality of our pepper while supporting small local farmers.
Our peppercorns are vacuum-sealed directly on the farm to lock in their full aroma and ensure lasting freshness.
