Where the Pepper Grows
Kampot pepper comes from the coastal region of Kampot in Cambodia, an area known among connoisseurs as the home of the world’s best pepper. The combination of ideal climate and mineral-rich soil creates perfect conditions for cultivating this unique spice.
The Kampot region has a rich history and a long tradition of pepper cultivation dating back to the 13th century. Even then, Kampot pepper was cherished by Khmer kings and traded as a valuable commodity.
RIAHOU’s Kampot pepper is grown and processed using traditional methods, relying solely on natural techniques for pest control and fertilization.
Harvesting and Production of Our Varieties
Each pepper variety has its own unique flavor profile, shaped by the timing of harvest and meticulous processing.
Green pepper is harvested early and preserved through fermentation in salt, keeping it fresh and juicy with pleasantly mild heat.
Black pepper is produced by sun-drying green peppercorns, giving it an intense, sharp flavor.
Red pepper comes from fully ripe red berries and is known for its fruity sweetness.
White pepper is also made from fully ripe red berries, which are peeled after fermentation, resulting in a mild and refined taste.
What Makes Our Pepper Special
We visited the coastal region of Kampot, famous for its exceptional pepper. There, we met a dedicated female farmer who grows Kampot pepper following long-standing family traditions.
Our close collaboration allows us to ensure the premium quality of our pepper while also supporting small local farmers.
Our peppercorns are vacuum-sealed directly on the farm to preserve their full aroma and guarantee long-lasting freshness.
